Features

What the overlay actually does

A lightweight overlay that turns typed text into speech, routed straight into your games and voice chat.

Built for proximity chat
Designed around games like Peak, Content Warning, and Lethal Company, where being heard matters as much as hearing. Type a message and it comes out of your speaker like you said it yourself, no headset needed.
Uses your system voices
Works with any Windows SAPI5 voice already installed, pick from Microsoft's built-in voices or add your own language packs.
Routes through VB-Audio Cable
Pushes synthesized speech straight through a virtual audio cable so Discord and your games hear it like a microphone.
Always-on-top overlay
A small, unobtrusive window that stays above your game so you can type without alt-tabbing out.
Global hotkeys
Jump into the overlay with Ctrl + Enter and dismiss it with Esc, without breaking your flow.
Free and open source
Built in the open on GitHub with Avalonia and .NET. Read the code, file an issue, or send a pull request.

Getting started

Up and running in three steps

No account, no configuration files, just a virtual cable and an overlay.

01

Install VB-Audio Virtual Cable

This is how Open Game TTS transmits speech to your desired outputs. Download and install it first.

Get VB-Audio Cable
02

Set it as your input device

Point Discord, your game, or any voice app to the VB-Audio virtual cable as its microphone input.

03

Run Open Game TTS and start typing

Launch the overlay, press Ctrl + Enter to focus it, type your message, and it's spoken for you.
